I am an out of network provider with insurance. I can provide monthly (or more frequently upon request) SuperBills to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. The SuperBill contains everything you need to submit to your insurance company, and in most instances, can be uploaded directly to your online client portal. I am happy to help you to become familiar with this process.

I’ve chosen to no longer contract with insurance companies because I believe therapy works best when it is private, individualized, and guided by clinical judgment — not corporate policy.
Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis and sharing of this diagnosis and other treatment information with them. They have strict documentation requirements that are often time-consuming and cumbersome, taking clinician time and focus away from client care. Insurance companies reserve the right to audit records and recoup, or “clawback” payments months or even years later if they decide that your treatment wasn’t “necessary,” or if they don’t like the way the clinician documented care. These structures can influence documentation and treatment decisions in ways that don’t always support depth-oriented, nuanced work such as EMDR or IFS, and, in the event of a clawback, can place a huge financial burden on small, independent practices such as mine.
Further, insurance reimbursement rates are standardized and do not reflect therapist investment in advanced certifications, specialized treatment modalities, or decades of clinical experience. This means that a clinician with 20+ of clinical experience and specialized trainings and certifications is reimbursed exactly the same rate as a newly licensed therapist with no specialized training.
Maintaining a private-pay practice allows me to continue investing in the ongoing education, training, and consultation needed to provide highly specialized EMDR and IFS-informed treatment, and to truly take the time needed for this deeply healing and nuanced work.
In an effort to balance highly specialized, quality care and sustainability of my practice with access and affordability, I am happy to provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement should you chose to pursue this.

If the cost of therapy presents a barrier to treatment, ask about options to make therapy affordable.
I offer a limited number of reduced fee spots for individual therapy. I also offer 30 and 40-minute sessions at a lower rate. Please note that for EMDR, a minimum session time of 55 minutes is strongly recommended.

During the intake appointment, I will take a comprehensive history of your current symptoms, family structure, and background information, and assess for any mental health or substance abuse issues. Then, I’ll offer my insight into an individualized path forward for you.
